Business Development Manager (Remote, US-2020-06)

Position Summary
The Business Development Manager leads all customer development and relationship management for a defined geographic territory. The position requires the ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities within a portfolio of existing clients as well as future prospects. The Business Development Manager must possess the strong ability to manage the complete commercial life cycle from prospecting and opportunity generation through accurate forecasting and opportunity closing. The individual must be able to work both independently and as part of a wider commercial team.

  • Cultivate new business and develop a market presence in the territory assigned.
  • Present the Company's products through on-line and/or on-site demonstrations and have the knowledge to answer questions about the demonstrated product and support services.
  • Develop and respond to RFIs and RFPs and pricing proposals within the Company's guidelines.
  • Actively pursue lead generation through cold calling and networking activities as required to close new business.
  • Ability to, as needed, assist new clients through the initial phases of a new trial roll out.
  • Provide weekly sales status updates to the direct manager. Represent the Company at various industry trade shows and symposiums.
  • Work with Senior Leadership and other department managers to maximize attainment of territory goals and repeat business.

  • Proven track record of developing mid-level and high-level customer relationships and growing a sales territory

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical and non-technical information both internally and to clients

Qualifications Needed

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Formal sales training (Solution Selling, Strategic Selling, Challenger Selling, etc,)
  • 3+ years successful software/services sales experience within the Medical Affairs/Lifesciences industry to include consistent over quota production
  • Ability to efficiently work from a home office environment
  • Industry (clinical trials or biopharma) specific selling experience
  • Medical Information, Publication Planning, KOL Management Software and/or Enterprise Content Management Software experience a plus
  • Pharmaceutical a plus
