More OCT Europe Events We Are Looking Forward To

Here are a few of the presentations that intrigue us on the OCT Europe agenda.

Keynote: Disaster Preparedness

8:30 a.m., May 3

Using the war in Ukraine as a case study, keynote speaker Roman Fishchuk will open OCT Europe by discussing the impact of the war on Ukraine-based clinical trial work. This will provide an example of how clinical trial teams can account for unexpected and uncontrollable events.

As the head of the clinical trials department at Central City Clinical Hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk, Fishchuk will draw on direct experience to explore site involvement in decentralized trials, the importance of backup plans, mitigating risk, and finding new solutions in uncertain times.

Paediatric-Centric Clinical Trials: A Right for Children and Young People

4:15 p.m., May 3

To date, the vast majority of clinical trials have focused on adult patients. Yet the results of adult-centric clinical trials don’t always translate to pediatric care.

This session will explore issues surrounding clinical research centered on children and adolescents. How can clinical trial teams respect the rights of pediatric patients to be involved in clinical research? How can these teams better involve children and adolescents? What are the impacts of better investment and patient engagement in pediatric clinical trials?

Begoña Nafria Escalera, patient engagement and research coordinator at Barcelona’s Sant Joan de Déu hospital, will lead this session and offer a case study focused on decentralized clinical trials for pediatric patients.

Communication & Innovation: Defining Innovation in Clinical Trials

4:15 p.m., May 3

What do we mean when we refer to “innovation” in clinical trials? How does communication bolster an innovation strategy — and how does lack of communication undermine that strategy? How can clinical trial and medical affairs teams communicate innovation?

Join Novo Nordisk Clinical Project and Innovation Manager Laura Jiménez Robledo for a session discussing these topics and clarifying the role of innovation in clinical trials.

Outsourcing in Clinical Trials Europe 2023 promises to offer two days of in-depth, innovative information about the clinical trials space. We hope to see you there!
