Preview: 6 Sessions at DIA Medical Information Conference

The Drug Information Association (DIA) will host its annual medical information conference in September, and as in previous years this event promises to bring together some of the brightest minds in the industry.

The 2023 DIA Medical Information and Communications Conference will be held in Brussels from September 27 to 28.

Below, we take a look at the six sessions on the agenda.

Optimizing Front Line Service

Wednesday, September 27
9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

Katia Castrillo, Eli Lilly Senior Manager, Capabilities European Medical Information, will chair the first session of the conference, which will explore contact center management.

Speakers will include:

  • Pfizer’s Steve Wright, who will talk about using technology to improve interactive voice response.
  • ProPharma Group Director of Medical Information Europe Katie Tonge, will discuss how to maintain service levels during product launches or spikes in call volumes.
  • UCB Head of Medical Information and Patient Support Jürgen W.G. Bentz and Evidera’s Elizabeth Olbrich will report on lessons learned from outsourcing medical information services.

 

Evolving the MedInfo Structure

Wednesday, September 27
11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Kyowa Kirin Director of Global Medical Affairs Excellence Elvar Eyjolfsson and Pfizer Director of Medical Information Effectiveness Peter Brodbin will chair this session.

Speakers will include:

  • Viatris Global Medical Information Lead Daniell Liu, who will talk about implementing a global medical information service in a newly formed company.
  • Consultant Isabelle C. Widmer, who will talk about how to design a medical information system.
  • Roche Global Medical Information Leaders Diane Wiseman and Anita Lewis, who will talk about the work their teams have done to enhance medical information at that organization.

 

Value of MedInfo

Wednesday, September 27
2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

Consultant Michelle Bridenbaker will chair this session on how to put theory into practice.

Speakers will include:

  • Pfizer Director and Regional Therapy Area Lead for Medical Information Ana Barrias, who will talk about delivering a good patient experience.
  • Idorsia Pharmaceuticals Associate Director Global Medical Information Product Specialist Andy Edward Mackay, who will address building an online learning module.
  • PTC Therapeutics Associate Director of Medical Information Hannah Brennan will speak about how medical information can support gene therapy.
  • UCB Associate Director Gaurav Kumar will present best practices for and lessons learned from setting up quality control processes for medical information enquiries.

Novartis’ Jill Voss and Evelyn De Santis, Director of Research and Publication at phactMI and Professor Emerita at Rutgers University, will discuss standards for delivering a good customer experience.

The Art of Providing Digital Content

Thursday, September 28
9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Orion Healthcare Founder Hakan Aribas and Sanofi Head of Europe Medical Information Marie-Luise Helmich will chair this session.

Speakers will include:

  • TransPerfect VP Katie Lewis and Global Director of Client Solutions Dana Weber, who will talk about getting customers faster access to accurate information online.
  • Eli Lilly Manager Medical Information Europe Pooja Anand, who will report on digital writing.
  • Pfizer Medical Information Operations Lead for Europe Miriam Fenelon, who will address making medical information content fit for digital and self-service channels.

 

Driving the Future of MI

Thursday, September 28
11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Pfizer’s Peter Brodbin and consultant Sarah Dunnett will host this open mic-style session in which attendees are encouraged to stand up and share their ideas about driving the future of medical information.

Unlock the Future of Medical Information Content Dissemination

Thursday, September 28
1:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

UCB’s Jürgen Bentz will chair this session, in which industry professionals “will discuss the challenges and opportunities of launching a global medical information portal for healthcare professionals.”

Speakers will include:

  • Takeda EMEA Head Medical Information Beatrice Omisakin, who will discuss launching a global medical information portal.
  • Pfizer Regional Labelling Lead and Senior Director Giovanna Ferrari, who will address the value of making electronic product information and digital health information available to patients.
  • Janssen EMEA Director of Medical Information and Compliance Marianne Paterson, who will talk about when organizations should and should not invest in on-demand medical information.

 

Event Details

The DIA Medical Information and Communications Conference brings together people from Europe’s largest medical information community.

This year’s event will take place over two days, September 27 and 28, 2023, at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel Brussels. The hotel is northeast of the city center in the Evere municipality, which is a short taxi ride from the Brussels airport.
